VRRP Group Authority

Hi,

I’m trying to understand what the Group Authority of the VRRP interfaces is used for.

On the primary router I can select “none”, “self” or “vrrp1”.

On the secondary router I can select “none” or “self”. “vrrp1” is not selectable because it’s a disabled interface (italic in WinBox).

Should I configure group-authority only on the primary router and should I use self/none?

The concept is not very clear even after reading the documentation:
VRRP - RouterOS - MikroTik Documentation

Let’s say I have three VRRP interfaces (vrrp1, vrrp2 and vrrp3) on both routers:

  • How to configure group-authority on VRRP1 on both routers? (this should be the group interface)
  • How to configure group-authority on VRRP2 and VRRP3 on both routers?

Thanks!
