w60g MCS rates

I’ve been deploying wap60x3 PTMP APs and they normally work great. LHG60 devices specifically normally reach MCS8 and have full 2.3Gbps throughput. When using the small Wireless Wire (w60g) unit, performance is normally pretty bad. MCS1 is pretty much a guarantee when using the w60g unit as CPE.

I have a short 22m w60g to wap60x3 link that I’ve been messing with. When running the command

/interface w60g align wlan60-1

, (I understand this command is meant for aligning the unit) after the radio is locked down and installed, signal and MCS rates jump all over the place and I see up to MCS8 a lot, so I know that the radio has the ability to modulate at MCS8, but it won’t ever stay there! When the align command is halted, it will modulate at MCS1, always. Is there anything I can do manually lock the antenna calibration that achieves MCS8?

It depends how loosely you define “achieve.” If the radio isn’t staying there in production use, it’s almost always because you wouldn’t like the results if it stayed there. A higher modulation that craters your CCQ is no bargain.
