The metal indoor RB cases seem to have no wall mounting options, so I came up with a easy solution to mount them on a wall or cabinet backboard.
Bend a small size paperclip in the middle 90 degrees with pliers. Back off the side screws of the RB case and slip the small end of the paperclip behind the screw. Tighten the case screw and you have nice wall mount clip on your RB case now. Two of these on a case are sufficient to mount a 333 case on a wall/backboard. Put a sheetrock screw or other fastener through the other end of the paperclip and into the wall/backboard.
I had been thinking about making some sort of mounting system out of angle stock and cutting the stock to length and putting holes in it, but it was just too easy to use two paperclips instead.
Get a wall mount rack .. 14 inch rack can mount a bunch of stuff, including your swtiches, internet connection, routerboard 1000RM or a PowerRouter. Usually cheap too, I pick them up locally for under 100 beans. 140 if I want a nice closing, dual hinge one.
Another idea… If you glue two magnets onto the case you would be amazed at all the stuff you can just stick it to thats metal I am going to implement more magnetic mounting systems in my next version of tower boxes. Holds well and is easy to work on at height.
The RB532 case had wall mounting holes punched in the back. In my opinion ALL router board indoor cases should be provided with + shaped screw mounting holes so they can be “professionally” mounted in any orientation on a wall or backboard. It seems like a shame that we have to resort to paperclips, angle brackets, magnets or sticky tape to mount these things.
Has anyone seen a punch & die that will make screw mounting holes? My attempts with a drill look pretty bad. Fortunately the holes end up out of sight against the wall.
The CrossRoads has vent holes on what I consider the back. This makes it difficult to mount to the wall. I end up using sticky tape on the TOP and leaving the vent holes facing the room.
Yes, we’ll get 4 paperclips that are starting to rust packaged with the board mounting and case screws. Just kidding!!
Actually a paperclip does make a decent antenna for testing MT wireless stuff indoor. You straighten it out and set it in the center of an N-type female pigtail.
