WAN Port loosing connection

Hello all,

I have been around Mikrotik for several years now, but still think of my self as a newbie. I am hoping that some one can offer some suggestions for a problem that I am having with a WAN Port on a RB433 running 4.16. I have a Cat5 connection coming from our service provider with a 50 Meg connection. I originally had it connected directly to the RB433 but was having a lot of trouble with the WAN port. It would stop passing traffic because it thought that it lost connection to our gateway located on our service providers equipment. We fixed that problem by moving all of our NATed public IP addresses to a second WAN Port that is different than the one that we have a /23 block of IPs on and putting in a RB750 acting as a switch to provide a connection to both ports.

The problem that I am having now is that the WAN port appears to be loosing connection to the internet. These outages usually only last 15 to 20 seconds at a time but that is enough for a customer to lose a VPN connection. Also, these outages are usually happening one after another for as many as 20 times. I have a netwatch set up so that it will e-mail me everytime the connection disconnects and then reconnects to our gateway. It doesn’t show a physical connection being lost at any time during these episodes. This is becoming very frustrating and any help that can be offered would be greatly appriciated.

Maybe there is autonegotiation problems between WAN port and your ISP device.
Make sure you have default settings on both sides for Ethernet interface. Try to put simple 100Mbps switch between your router and ISP.

Thanks for the suggestion sergejs. I have been talking to my provider a lot over the last few days and they having been talking to the company that is providing transport for the connection and they actually admitted that it was an issue that they are having at the hand-off between them and has nothing to do with my connection or router.
It is shocking how hard it is to get one of these companies to say that they are having trouble rather than blaming my mikrotik for the issue. Also, it really upsets me that it was the company that is providing the transport that contacted me and told me that there was trouble with the connection, so they have known about it for over a month and have done nothing to correct the problem. Sorry for the rant and thanks for the suggestion.
