wAP ac LTE / wAP ac LTE6 kit / hAP ac³ LTE6 kit / supported WiFi Clients

Hi Team,

this is my firts message on the forum. Many Thanks in advance for your contribution and guidance.
I am looking at those three LTE Access Points but I was unable to locate the maximum number of WiFi clients supported by each model.
Do you have any detail around that?

Many Thanks in advance

Every access point, with default settings, support up to 2007 clients…
Usually DHCP Server are set for 252 clients…
But obviously regardless productor, too much connections kill the AP…

The max-station-count setting (Maximum number of associated clients.) of 2007 for a WiFi interface must be a theoretical limit.

See this 2013 response from Janisk, Mikrotik Support, to a similar question on the forum:

max-station-count is one thing, another is - how many clients can connect, and AP would still be usable.

Usual answer is around 40 clients, and then you can test and see if adding more clients does not degrade experience for users. If usage is decent you could go up to 50 or even 60 authenticated users.

this is more of a recommendation for 1 wifi interface. for 100 concurrent users it is advised to use 2 wifi interfaces. So any router from routerboard.com with 2 interfaces could handle this.

Here’s this 2014 response too from Normis

all mikrotik devices have no limitation for number of clients. the only limiting factor ir 802.11 standard and physics.

normally I would suggest to keep the connected clients below 100

I suppose with ‘beefier’ processors now and 802.11ac the maximum number of clients per interface may be higher than the 2013 & 2014 recommendation, but definitely not the ‘theoretical’ 2007 max! Others on the forum may want to share their current experience.

Many Thanks Guys for your feedback, really helpful

Cheers
