Hi All
I have a pre-sales question about the wAP ac and performance, I hope somebody might be able to assist. I have been researching these extensively for a small (4 AP) deployment as a more flexible and better value alternative to the unifi AC Pro. I would plan on managing these with CAPsMAN but using local forwarding for the highest throughput.
I’d like to know if anybody has run some throughput tests using AC, 5Ghz, 80Mhz channels in near-optimal conditions (ie, router and 3 stream AC client, very close to each other, in a location with minimal interference). In consumer grade AC hardware, I’m seeing around 800mbits in similar conditions in my testing.
I understand this isn’t necessarily a ‘real world’ test, but the reason I ask is that I’ve seen a few posts and benchmarks that seem to max out around the 500mbits number. I’d like to be assured there isn’t some bottleneck (CPU, driver, etc) preventing optimal AC performance when the conditions allow.
By comparison, I’ve come across a limitation with OpenWRT running on AC hardware (AC wireless tops out at about 500mbits, despite doing 800+ on the same hardware using stock drivers) so I’d really like to know there are no similar limitations in the wAP AC before purchasing.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
