I have a brand new factory sealed (as best as I can tell) wAP-AX (model: wAPG-5HaxD2HaxD).
The default admin password does not work. admin/blank also does not work. I’ve factory reset using the reset button - several times.
The sticker on the device and paperwork and box all match the physical information (s/n, MAC address, SSID, psk).
I can connect to the wireless network using the factory PSK.
Is there a way to boot with no config or no admin password? I’ve thought about using NetInstall, but the guides don’t indicate whether that resets the admin password.
I have 4 other Mikrotik devices (3 WAP-AX’s) from the same vendor and they all worked fine out of the box.
What are my options here?
try to replace O with 0, they may look (almost) the same, I and 1 (capital i and 1).
and AFAIK netinstall will remove factory password.
Don't forget about L and l ...
Smartphone zoom x3 also helps.
And don't think because it's striked in MAC address , there is no 0 instead of O in passwd itself (been there, done that).
OH my gosh. Literally.
It was the zero/oh mistake. I had issue with B’s and 8’s and S/5 and had the 0/O issue on another unit. Didn’t even occur to me that this was an OH.
Rookie mistake. THanks for the (virtual) smack upside the head.

Nothing to be ashamed of.
Quite a bit have been bitten by the same problem.
Latest devices they pay more attention to avoid possible ambiguity of used characters in passwd so at least they learned from their mistakes (or they had too much issues because of it themselves
)
