wAP case repair?

Once the ~1x1.5cm cable breakout panel on the back of a wAP case has been popped out for indoor wiring use, what do you recommend for closing it back up again for outdoor use? We have several wAPs in this condition, and the removed panels were discarded long ago.

The ideal solution would be some kind of epoxy to pour into the hole, that would bond to the plastic on all four sides and form a new waterproof plug. But I wouldn’t even know where to begin looking for something like that; I don’t even know what kind of plastic the case is made of. PVC? PE?

No suggestions from anybody? Once that panel is popped out for indoor use, it can never be used outdoors again?

There are no standard solution.
If device is mounted “properly” (as example, it is not upside down), there should not be problems since water can’t get in. Although we would recommend to fill panel hole at least with something which would not let humidity in.

That’s my question: what’s the “something” with which to fill the panel hole?

This is my only criticism of Mikrotik’s outdoor case designs: once you pop out a tab to run a wire through, you can’t close it up again. For my operation, that’s a problem because when we upgrade equipment in one location, we often repurpose the old equipment somewhere else–and if its new assignment doesn’t use some of those opened holes, we need to seal them with “something” to keep out moisture and bugs.

For the small round holes on PowerBoxes, OmniTiks etc., a rubber plug with some RTV to hold it to the case (but not to the lid) will do the trick. But nothing off-the-shelf is going to fit the big rectangular hole on the back of a wAP: that’s going to need a custom-formed plug, probably inserted from inside the case.
