I have a wAP LR9 kit, which I am very happy with. I am experimenting with LoRaWAN, and I will be deploying this hardware at a remote location soon.
According to the documentation the maximum power consumption is 7W, however, I’d like to know what the typical power consumption is because I’d like to run the unit from solar power and a battery bank. I also have a Teltonika TRB140 cellular modem to connect the gateway to the internet over 4G. That consumes up to 5W, but again, I don’t know if that is peak or continuous.
If anyone has done this experiment or has any information or suggestions I’d be happy to hear about it.
That’s not actually helpful. Maximum power consumption and typical (or average) power consumption are different things. The maximum power consumption tells me how much power I need to supply some of the time, but it doesn’t tell me how much power I need overall. For example, a device might consume 5W most of the time and then 10W for half a second every hour. In that case the maximum power consumption is 10W, but the typical power consumption is just over 5W. If I designed a solar power system to supply 10W all the time it would be almost twice as large as necessary, and therefore twice as expensive as necessary (and wasteful), so if you know the typical power consumption it would be more helpful to post it. Thank you.
