wAP LTE connection problem

I need some help, please I’m completely lost. I bought wAP R LTE routerboard to have wifi in the garden. I have a sim card as well, I thought it would be a perfect solution to provide internet for my Ring Video Bell on the front gate.
But I can’t make it work! I connect the wAP to my homerouter with an ethernet cable (and to the power) and according to the manual there should be a mikrotik wifi signal that I could connect to either with the browser or with the phone app to setup the mikrotik device.
I have no wifi signal whatsoever. What do I do now? Is it a fault of the device and I should return it to the store or do I need some additional hardware to make it work or is my setup completely wrong?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks

At first place I must say that MikroTik is hardware company who give us hardware.
RouterOS is software but it’s no any “Working all scenario out-of-box” and we must do configuration by myself. Means you must be a network person who understand what you set on it.

This way I read all books, do a certification etc. But it’s not that big stuff what you must do. This forum and IRC and FaceBook groups are full of ppl who can help.

Just use WinBox app to access device.
Default login is admin, blank password.
Not insert a SIM card with Public IP into device to not share device at internet with default access.
At WinBox you can see the Wireress button and you can see setting of wifi.
If you start with default config then you can start with QuickSet but you should use it ONE time at start and next do some your modification.

wAP R have got 1x Ethernet port.

Next please give me info what you wont to setup, what you have a problem. At bottom you have my signature with webchat and telegram.

Good luck!

Hey SiB,
thanks for the quick reply.

The thing is, I have a Mac, I can’t use WinBox unfortunately. I suppose even WinBox uses the wifi that is emitted from the routerboard, this is the way it connects to it. But I have no wifi network provided by the mikrotik device. According to the manual the name of the network should begin with “mikrotik” but the routerboard does not provide any signal, any network. I don’t even get to the part of “what to do with the software” because “physically” (basically the wifi signal is physical) I can’t establish any connection with this router board. So I’m suspecting that it might be faulty.
Or I’m just lame.

You have included Power adapter 24V and PoE injector who power up device.
wAPR have one Ethernet port that means you can use only it to manage this device by “Cable”.

Second stuff is to use a wifi and yes. Out-of-box this shoud work with wifi name e.g. MikroTik-123456 (Open network, without password) and this is default configuration.

I understand you start use this device and now you setup it at short ethernet cable. The LED shows any power up activity?

If you not see this wifi name then please use a reset procedure:

The reset button has the following functions:
 Hold this button during boot time until LED light starts flashing, release the button to reset RouterOS
configuration (total 5 seconds).

Other words:

Power off.
Press the reset button and press it stilll…
power on and press it still … until
… when you see that LED are blinking then release the reset button.
Wait 1 minute and check at PC/Laptop/Phone that MikroTik-123456 wifi name start show.

Thank you for your help.
Unfortunately nothing seems to be working, not even after reset. I saw the video earlier I checked it out again but after a few attempts my router remains dead.
Probably some hardware error, I’m getting it replaced.

Thank you again!

I agree.
As end user you do all you can. This is not work out-of-box even after reset procedure.

As network and technician person you can try the NetInstall way to reinstall/reformat RouterOS at NAND.
Remember that official distributor provide a support to YOU, not only warranty !. You should call them with that problem.

Good Luck and I hope next wAP R will be works properly.

P.S. Remember that KIT with R11e-LTE6 modem is the latest version of hardware !!.
