I’m looking to replace our (expensive) GPS NTP servers and I’ve read in posts from a few years back that the LTE modems have the ability to sync the system clock via GPS. I understand that the accuracy is not as good as it’s serial rather than PPS, but ignoring that would a wAP-LTE-kit or SXT-LTE be able to sync its clock via GPS and then operate as an NTP server?
you need a LTE card with GPS function and then you can install the gps package and use set-system-time option. And then you can use the NTP server to distribute the time. https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:System/GPS
