WAP LTE missing interface

Hello, I would like to report missing interface on WAP LTE.
It was working for 10 days, but with often disconnections. I’ve set up script to monitor interface status and reboot if it was offline.
Now, there is no LTE interface at all.

I have tried to install latest rc version and lte package as well but with no help.
I’ve tried to re-seat mpci card but that did not help either.
Anything else ?

Please contact support@mikrotik.com and include the support output file.

Did you resolve this?

I have pretty much the exact same issue. I had a spre unit with me, which didn’t disconnect nearly as much when I swapped it around. But not sure how to get this LTE interface back

sent for RMA, accepted, supplier sent new one

out of interest, did you notice at all any heat problems on that unit?

the unit was so warm, the sticker is bubbling on the back. When I pulled out the sim card, it was also bent (but I’m not sure if this is because its was a micro-sim inside a normal sim, maybe the insert its in isn’t perfectly smooth (which Mikrotik will need to address as well), or if it was actually the heat that damaged the SIM.

The other unit, thats working doesn’t have the heat problem, and also sims go easily in and out of it.

@uldis, ticket number is [Ticket#2017122022003963]

I couldn’t find any other useful info on the forums, so will be helpful for others to see a thread based on possible issues

Hi,
Yes I did notice somewhat more heat then usual.
Passive cooler was so warm that glue melted from chipset and cooler fell off.

Sim Location and insertion and removal process is painfull.

Mikrotik staff, you should have team of product Beta testers which will return objective Feedback info to you in order to have more satisfied customers. I believe you can find forum users (with MT cert) which would participate volounterly (me included).

i had excactly the same issues (first disconnects, then heat, then LTE gone) - sent it back and received RMA replacement - works much better now

looks like there is some hardware problem going on…

Same problem wAP LTE kit
First heat felt at the back of the unit after investigating LTE interface gone.
Twice reset no success.
Heat-sink slides off
I have photos to share if you pm me.
Sent back for full refund
Got one from another supplier.
New one keeps stopping to surf internet although LTE running.
Upgraded Modem firmware with instructions from SUPPORT.(v1 to v8)
never ending story - new equipment with teething problems and no self help available
Very happy with the speed of the unit.

The same thing, Heat-sink slides off.
I returned the Heat-sink to his place, but the LTE interface have problem and disappears.
The problem is that new WAP-kit is not available for another 2 months.
Does anyone know what a mpci-e card is working with wap???
I heard, the Huawey ME 909s-120 does not work.

I have this Huawei in one wap lte and it works perfectly

Thank you very much for your response Darkprocess.
The techship.com site is a description for this modem, quotation
“In MikroTik boards RB912 and RB953, this module will not be initialized correctly. Please select another module.”
And I read in the forum about the problems with this modem, but i do not know if the new Ros Firmware has added support for that modem.

It’s in the supported list
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/LTE
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Peripherals

Last week i was using it in vacations. Uptime of 2 weeks without any issue.
The modem was flashed with the last release available from huawei previously to mount it in the waplte just for beeing up to date.
Ordered the modem on aliexpress for a cheap price

Do you mind possibly changing the topic to include “(Overheating perhaps?)” or something to that effect to help others identify this thread.

Happened to a 2nd unit that I have too.

yesterday the second unit started acting weird:

LTE is up and running but i cannot get any traffic. ping to various locations says timeout and i can see outgoing traffic on the interface but none incoming.
ip is there and default route is installed as well. if i point the default route to some other router ping works…

i will reset the unit as soon as i can get my hands on it (a coworker is currently retrieving it from the customer)

its a real shame because the WAP LTE timing was spot on for a bigger project where it would solve a lot of my problems if it worked reliably

I am led to believe senior management is trying to investigate the underlying cause of the units that are failing.

Hopefully its only something like 1 in 10 or 1 in 100 with the issue.

Happened the same to me.
The device was worked in the attick (it’s winter here, so between 0 and 10C deg). LTE interface disappers, even not visibile in PCI list.

At the moment i’m verifying the device. Normal room temperature like 23C, the device reports 67-68C deg even out of the plastic case.

All the PCB was very hot, even on sides. Can be hold by hand, but not for so long.

just wanted to report: i pulled off the miniPCI-e card and the board says 37C deg. The heatsink on board is not warm.
so the issue is definitely with the R11e-LTE card.

Looks like the lte card is damaged - contact for the RMA of the unit.

Yes. Sadly RMA of a unit tooks about a month :frowning:
