Hi,
I’ve received my wAP LTE R + Huawei ME909u-521, but so far I’ve not been able to enjoy it.
The initial firmware, of which I neglected to note the version number, gave me the same result with two different SIM cards of two different providers: they were able to find find an operator, but gave me no internet connection.
Because of this I updated the firmware to 6.41.0. This, however, made things even worse. I was only able to get the device to boot properly, and being able to get a WiFi or wired connection one time after a reset. Restarting the device again no longer allowed me to connect to it. The WiFi network was visible, but no connection could be made. A wired connection failed to get me an IP-address assigned. To get a connection again I had to reset the device without a SIM card. This behaviour was also present with 6.41.1 and after a downgrade to 6.39.3.
After this I tried an update to 6.42rc20. This solved WiFi/wired the connection problem, multiple reboots allow me to keep connecting, just as with the initial firmware.
An internet connection with a LTE provider is still out of the question though. This time it can’t even find an operator.
A scan in the LTE interface settings gives me the error “Couldn’t start - modem isn’t configured yet (6)”, even though the card and its type is properly discovered.
Through the WebUI no other firmware versions are available, so I didn’t try downgrading any further.
I’m using the same SIM cards in a Huawei USB dongle connected to a MikroTik router and this works fine. The wAP LTE should be able to get a connection.
What could be going on here? What else can I try?
UPDATE
Apparently I drew my conclusions too fast. Even with firmware 6.42rc20 things remain unstable in terms of connecting after a reboot. I switched the SIM card and the problem came back again.
