WAP R ac bricked after upgrade to 7.11

Hello,

I tried to upgrade WAP R ac with LTE module via winbox from 7.10 to 7.11. Router is now bricked, looks like stays in bootloop.

After powering there are on PWR and USB light and on ETH1 (plug in) blinks several times, then turnf off for 2 seconds, then both ETH green leds blink once and everything is again.

I do not see device on network, can not reset settings in any mode (5 sec, 30-30-30, 30 etc). Netinstall does not see the brick.

How can I unbrick the router?

Thanks in advance for support.

Netinstall can be tricky to setup on Windows, so sometime it’s windows firewall (or similar) that block netinstall’s ability to find devices. If you have a Linux box, I try netinstall on that.

The wAPac have very little storage… Did you have any extra-package installed before you upgraded? Or other files on the flash disk before you upgraded?

Nope, it was “clear” instance.

I monitor traffic on hAP ac and wAP doesn’t lease any IP on DHCP. There is some traffic (few packets).

I will try on some unix station.

Hello.
I have the same problem, on the same device. The router seem to be rebooting continuously. 5 out of 20 don’t connect to the VPN, and I suspect they all have the same issue. I managed to check and recover 1 with netinstall. I hope to check the others next week.

I couldn’t recover my WAP with netinstall. Bricked for ever and ever. Amen. :frowning:

The same thing happen with mine AC2.

Netinstall using latest beta.
There have been reports of netinstall issues using 7.11 chain.

I used netinstall64 6.49.10. For me, this configuration works :
From windows :
Disable all firewall rules , disable all network interfaces except eth used to connect on WAP, apply only a valid IP address (192.168.88.1) ,and gateway (the same IP of network interface).
Connect WAP from ETH1 at ETH of the PC
Config Netinstall netbooting enable boot server and set client to 192.168.88.3.
Disable old configuration option
From Packages , delete the sets .
Browse the packages and select only system.

To check a valid connection i run wireshark on eth.
Power on WAP while press the reset button on WAP until look a response from 192.168.88.3 on wireshark (or look new device on Netinstall Routers/Drives)
Press install.
I hope this suggest is helpful to you
