wAPR and Quectel EP06 not being detected

I just installed an EP06-A in to an RBwAPR-2nD and i cant see the modem in the interface list
i had an R11e before and it worked ok

i am on 7.9RC1 and downloaded the extra packages and installed the LTE package
rebooted and nothing.

i saw a thread were somebody needed to short some pins on the board

so i need to do some surgery to the wAPR , i tought that ROS will detect the quectel by default as it is shipped
with other LTE platforms from Mikrotik…

so i am puzzled, does the WAP R routerboard follows the PCIe standard or use the USB interface on a PCIe slot ??
i am lost.

ok looks like the wAPR is only usb2.0 complaint and the Quectel comes as USB3 mode by default

so i need to stick the EP06A in an usb3 device… change the mode to USB2 and try again

i do not have a USB3 device
so maybe an external USB to PCIe adapter and use a PC to switch the mode?

as of today my wAP routerboard do not see the Quectel Radio

You can also put a piece of tape over the USB3.0 pins of the miniPCIe connector on the card to force it into USB2.0 mode.

i did that and now is working

but , i saw posts that other people make it to work without tapping the pins
it was a ROYAL PITA to just hit that little gap of pins

does anyboday have done it wothout tapping the pins ?

and how come the SXT series work with the EP06A right off the bat and the wAP series not
