In december - January, 5 have failed (wireless stopped working). Ive sent replacement units to site, and now have the failed units back. They ALL have signs of water ingress, despite being installed as per specification. All covers clipped back into place.
Funnily enough. the 5 that failed are the 5 we did not use silicone sealant on (covering up obvious ingress points with the exception of the bottom drainage slot). Clearly there IS a design fault with the SXT units that can allow water ingress.
Do we just return this units back to our supplier, as clearly they are not fit for purpose?
I have not seen this problem. We started to try to not use Silicon, and have quited totaly. I think i have about 150 SXT, and have had 0 error (not been DOA) This is in hard Norwegian weather, With a lot of rain and snow, and temp Down to -30C
We have own build Clients out on some windmill parks for Norwegian Government Power Company (statkraft). This is in North sea. This Hardware is almoust 100% resistant to weather. (and salt weather)..
Det hadde vært svært hyggelig å treffes, for å utveksle erfaringer, kunder og tjenester. Vi har i noen tid blant annet forsøkt å finne en svensk tilbyder for global bgp tabell, da vi til tider sliter med linjer i Norge. Ta gjerne kontakt på thomas a vikenkomtek.no
But I assure you they are not as waterproof as they should be. We have Mikrotik equipment at approx 200 external sites, with maybe between 10-40 units per site (2000-4000 units) in the field. Only a couple of the SXTs have failed, and these were all purchased at the same time. Possibly a manufacturing fault, as when you apply pressure to the case, the top join opens and water can clearly ingress into the case.
