Does anyone know of Mikrotik’s WDS is compatible with any other produts such as Buffalo etc…
Thank you
I see this question was asked months ago, but no one had any input. It sure would be nice to know who has had success getting WDS to work between a Mikrotik and other ventor’s equipment.
I made a stab at trying a Buffalo network router, and it did not establish. I tried a Dlink AP which supported WDS, but it did not connect either.
I thought WDS was supposed to be this “industry standard” way of APs peering with one another. But no vendors seem to be compatible with one another. Only their own line of products.
Has anyone else had success connecting to another vendor’s APs using WDS?
Yes I do but in Mikrotik 2.8.xx and LinkSys WRT54g(v2.0) dd-wrt firmware. I don’t why but work only if default authentical checked. If you uncheck and add ti access list don’t work.
I don’t tested in 2.9.xx replace LinkSys with another Mikrotik
but in 2.8.xx WDS work. Try to search forum another people have sucess with Mikrotik and Broadcom based AP with WDS.
yes i can confirm that i had successful wds links with mikrotik and linksys, zycell, and senao 3054
doesnt the type of radio chip on your mini pci matter too for MT and other vendor WDS compatabilty? or is it an os thing?
I have used wds with proxim and buffalo aps and works fine with 2.9
I remember I had managed to get this to work when I wanted to establish a temporary bridge, but now I need to set it up again (using latest ROS and latest firmware for a Proxim AP-700), WDS connects, but no traffic goes through.
I did all the obvious, added WDS to bridge, same channels, etc.
Anybody has any ideas? Any traps which I might have fallen into?
