I must create a hotspot for a hotel, accessable from all rooms. My thoughts were to have a ‘master’ router (RB532A) with hotspot & usermanager configured, then 3 ‘slave’ routers spread through the building. slave1 must WDS from master, slave2 must WDS from slave1, etc. so that only WiFi interface is used on slaves. Master will have ether1 plugged into hotel LAN where it will get internet etc.
I had a look at creating a mesh network in the wiki, but to which interface do I assign the IP, the WDS, bridge or wlan interface?
On the master, which interface must I bind the hotspot service to, bridge, WDS, …
I’m a newbie with these kind of setups, only did simple AP/client configs before.
yes,
wds and bridge will give you Transparant Network than supply your user and control them from centralized aaa [userman radius server].
you can use dymanic or static wds to make roaming access, then put set ip on bridge.
when you are running hotspot you can ip-binding for your divice to bypassed without authentication.
