WDS/Mesh with virtual APs

Quite new to this forum  I tried to figure out with forum posts, wiki and MUM presentations. But actually didn’t find a working solution. Maybe someone can help me.

Edit: First problem solved. See second post.

I have 3 wap ac. 1 wap ac is connected by ethernet to two VLANs (public and internal). This device should have the following VAPs:

  • 2.4GHz SSID public for clients
  • 2.4GHz SSID internal for clients
  • 5GHz SSID public with WDS mesh for link between APs and clients
  • 5GHz SSID internal with WDS mesh for link between APs and clients

The other two APs should act as a repeater on 5GHz. I thought about using a dynamic mesh with WDS. On 2.4GHz no WDS is required, they operate both on different frequencies.

When I add two Virtual APs with WDS dynamic mesh, only one interface one gets a WDS interface. Can anyone give me a hint on what I’m doing wrong?

I attached two pictures of the configuration of the first AP (wired one). The other two devices have the same config, except no VLANs on ethernet. On the picture only the main AP is powered.

Solved the problem. Log showed “unicast key exchange timeout” - I just selected wrong security on second VAP :frowning:

btw, is it correct two have 2 WDS links like in the picture?
