WDS over 5GHz and clients over 2.4GHz?

I would like to set up two (possibly three) access points that allow clients over 2.4GHz and backhaul/wds over 5GHz. Only one device will have an ethernet connection to the internet.

The reason: my parents’ house has a stucco wall/fireplace in roughly the middle of their house. It effectively blocks wifi signals from the other side of the house. Wherever I place a single access point, there are dead spots resulting from the wire mesh in the stucco wall. I can’t run additional cat5e to set up multiple access points. To overcome this, I would like to set up the main router/AP in a location visible to another (or another two), and have the remote APs bridge over 5GHz and provide local service over 2.4GHz to clients (laptops, ipads, android phones, Roku boxes, xbox, etc).

Is this something I can do in a straightforward way with RouterBoard equipment?

You will need multiple radios and/or multiple routerboards, but yes, there are plenty of examples in the wiki and forum on how to setup wds like this.

did you ever find an answer for this? I"m having the same exact issue.
