I Have 6ap’s with 2 radios covering outdoor area trying to setup ptmp not using hotspot just open wifi.
ap1 = ap/bridge with wds enabled and dynamic
ap2 - ap6 all set as station wds
all on 5ghz
Other radio card in each ap is for 2.4 setup as access point
Should ap2-6 also have wds enabled and dynamic or will station wds take care of it ?
The cards are bridged but from what i have read in the forums it would be better to have them routed.
Can anyone suggest what routing I could use ? At the moment the internet router issues dhcp
addresses 192.168.200.x across the wireless.
Would i need to have each ap use its own dhcp server and issue some addresses from the range 192.168.200.x
and try and sort out routing that way ?
eg
ap1 dhcp pool 192.168.200.1 ---- 200.30
ap2 dhcp pool 192.168.200.31 ---- 200.60
ap3 dhcp pool 192.168.200.61 ---- 200.90
ap4 dhcp pool 192.168.200.91 ---- 200.120
ap5 dhcp pool 192.168.200.121 — 200.150
ap6 dhcp pool 192.168.200.151 — 200.180
This would hopefully keep less than 30 users per ap and maybe I could route the 200.x to the correct ap from the 5ghz?
My 5ghz backhaul uses 192.168.100.x addresses.
Any help at all would be appreciated as I am still a newbie on mikrotik but having to learn fast as i did not install the system I have been left with another installers mess.
