Hello,
I have two hAP lites in ap-bridge and ap-client modes, used to create wireless bridge.
The hAPs are located in two adjacent rooms, only about 5-6m away, but with no line of sight.
The room with the ap-bridge has thick walls, but the hAP is located right next to its door.
I attach a sketch. Sorry for my poor skills
and note that all doors are fully open.
The problem is I am getting very poor signal strength between the two hAPs - around (-82)-(-80) dB.
Things to consider / what I tested so far:
- My neighborhood is really not crowded with other networks, and I verified there aren’t any other networks colliding with mine.
- I have tried fiddling with the frequency (set it to auto) and the band (set it to 2GHz-B/G/N), but that did bot seem to help.
- Holding the bridge hAP next to the door and rotating it helps a little, but not as much as I would expect. I also have no option to place it in front of the door or outside the room.
- I have a D-Link right next to the ap-bridge and it seems to get a much better signal with devices on the other room. Its WiFi is off by default, I only used it for testing and comparing.
- When I put the two hAPs right next to each other (20 cm apart…) I get around (-44)-(-40) dB, which I guess is normal.
Is there anything I can do to improve the signal quality?
Thank you!
