My gateway router currently has about 10Gbyte of cache files. Used to be 20G but shrank it down recently. When I disable the DST-NAT rule for the proxy CPU load drops dramatically. This router load balances 3 T1’s(soon to be 4), does firewalling, p2p control and a number of queues.
Will switching this router from having the proxy cache to having it use a parent proxy save much on CPU load? CPU load averages 30% over a day but I see it briefly at 100% frequently.
