Webfig doesn't start properly

Hi

I’m sure that I’ve seen this before years ago, but I can’t remember what I did to remedy it. This happened with very old MIPS MikroTik with 7.18.2 update (started from 7.1 and actually this happened already in intermediate 7.12).

Any help? I really don’t wish to factory reset the router.

Try the usual suspects:

  • Clear browser cache.
  • Shutdown and restart the browser.
  • Restart the Mikrotik device (at least as a troubleshooting).
  • Wait a minute or two (or three) before connecting to the Mikrotik device after its been rebooted.
  • Are you using http or https to access webfig? In case of https try creating a less demanding selfsigned cert.

I dont recall what the default size is but I noticed when I tried 4k certs that even if it worked the MIkrotik wasnt happy at all. 2k certs works better and 1k certs is even smoother (dunno about security but you can perhaps protect your managementnetwork using a dedicated encrypted VPN instead so using 1k certs becomes less of an issue)?

This is actually what puzzles me. I’ve seen this and I think it was a browser issue. This time:

  • I’ve cleared cache, tried 3 different browsers.
  • Did that.
  • Did that multiple times and of course also updated routeros.
  • Last wait was 12 hours.
  • First it was https, but since I can log in with ssh, I enabled http and same happens with that.

Somehow I think this must be a browser or connection side problem, but I just can’t figure out how. I can access all other Mikrotiks in my realm of influence normally with these exactly same browsers and connections.

Open Dev Tools (F12) and check on the network tab if there are any problems.
