Weird issue with network scanning

Hello,

I just replaced my verizon router with a mikrotik routerboard and the only thing that stopped working is the network scanning. The server can ping all the scanners and I can see arp entries for the ips but scanning over the network no longer works.

Do I need to do something special to get network scanning to work? How can I troubleshoot this?

Thanks

btw, when I say “network scanning”, I mean scanning documents over the network to the file server from a copy machine which has a network scanning function.

Let’s start by asking you to describe your network. What router, and what is the general network layout. Once we know that, we might be able to ask more specific questions.

Found out the issue. For some reason after replacing the Verizon SOHO router with the Routerboard, on the server I had to enable Netbios over Tcp/IP on the nics in order for the scanner/copier to be able to talk to the server. Not sure why I had to do this with the routerboard in place so if someone knows, please do share the reason for this.

P.S. This network isn’t anything crazy. Just Verizon (ISP) connects to the routerboard → dummy switch → workstations/server/copiers

Src Nat’ing all internal ips on a single /24 to the single verizon public ip.

That’s it.

Thanks

IT all depends whether you using hostname or ip address to establish communications to your server from your scanners.
