I have a 433 with 2 x 2.4GHZ radio cards. As well as being set up as straight AP’s, one of the cards is also set up as a Virtual AP.
Card 1: AP
Card 2: AP and VAP.
The PPP server is set up to use RADIUS (on a separate server). I have made no configuration changes for months.
The weird behaviour is this:
Starting today, the PPP clients connected through the AP interface on card2 are disconnecting frequently. Usually all together. But the PPP clients connecting through the VAP on the same card and through the other card are not.
The RBOS log reports that they are logging out, and it subsequently sends an accounting packet to the RADIUS server.
If I get a client previously connected through the AP connecting through the VAP then it stays up.
The client radios are Ubiquti, but the PPP clients are sometimes the Ubiquiti, other times they are Microtik routers. They both give the same behaviour. The only common factor is the AP that they use to connect. The wireless links are 100% and have uptimes in days and weeks .
Has anyone ever seen this behaviour and if so what did you do to fix it?
