Weird terminal behaviour using Chrome's Secure Shell extension

Hello,

I have been trying to administer my Mikrotik router from SSH, using the Chrome Secure Shell extension:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/secure-shell/pnhechapfaindjhompbnflcldabbghjo

However, it seems there is a wrong detection of the terminal capabilities, making it impossible to see anything but the last line of every command output…
(which renders administration kinda difficult)

Is there something I can do to use this extension to connect to my router ?

Chrome: 46
Secure Shell extension: 0.8.34
RouterOS: 6.32.2

Thanks,
Matthias

Small update:

I have tried to play with the TERM environment variable, with the following values:

  • hterm, which is the default value
  • xterm
  • ansi

But it doesn’t change that behavior, and therefore it’s not possible to administer my Mikrotik(s) from my Chromebook.

Anyone has a clue on how RouterOS detects the terminal capabilities, and if it’s possible to override ?

I’ve been experiencing this issue as well. I’m afraid I can’t add much other than that. I’ve fiddled with the settings but so far I haven’t found anything that works.

No issues with Putty on Windows, of course.

I too am encountering this issue. Only started happening after a ROS update a few months ago. It makes it where you can only see the last line of the response.

I’m having this issue too. Has anyone found a fix or a decent work around?
Thanks.

It’s still an issue, not sure why it happens,

if you change the window size after logging in by e.g. resizing the secureshell window, or changing the font size (ctrl + / ctrl -) .. it works fine.
