Is it possible to improve on the alignment data shown on the attachment. Since the beamwidth is 0.88 degrees it would seem very difficult to achieve perfect alignment. Also are there any pointers to calculating the real free space loss? Must also include the Oxygen attenuation (16dB/km) and the attenuation affect of rain (worst case scenario), for 5 mm/h = 5 dB/km.
Any feedback or tips would be welcomed.

I gave up with the automatic alignment, once i got a stable connection open terminal and send
/in w60g set 0 tx-sector=31
to the unit you are about to move. Align the signal to best point signal (take your time) , send same command to the other AP and align that.
Send
/in w60g set 0 tx-sector=auto
If you haven’t got one of the nRAY solidMOUNT you will struggle to align as the movement is so small!

This tx-sector=31 did help me a lot!
It’s almost impossible to align when beamforming is enabled.
Thanks!!!

Hi Daniel,
I’m glad it helped you but which unit are you using as nray center is 31 and the mesh dish i believe is 36.

Paul
It was a nRay link 770meters
Super stable signal 95/ mcs 8👌

Could i ask does the tx-sector info on your unit show anything above 0.8 of a degree in any direction ?

Paul
No probs ofcorse ![]()
When i do a hard set of a TX sector ex, 31 the arrows at the antenna does not point at any direction that function is being disabled, i didn´t check the TX info when i did to the alignment i´m a old radio guy so i only look at the value of Signal,MCS and RSSI so i don´t now.
When i´m happy with the alignment i change back to tx=auto
Now tx-sector info is right 0,8 up 0,6 We have about 10 60G links, in some links we see the text center so it can be happy sometimes ![]()
I guess you mean when i do a hard set of tx-sector, don´t know ![]()

If you set the tx-sector=auto does it read more than .8 of a degree as mine does not|! ( the arrows are no help at all)
I have had to do the same as you with aligning the signal with the tx-sector set to 31, the arrows dont light up when not set to auto.
I am too a ham radio operator and love playing with new tech
