I already bought a RB1100AHx2, but now need the APs Mikrotik. I have 3 building, 2 floors each. Each floor with ~ 50 long x 25 wide in meters, with about 10 rooms (6 or 7 users each room / 70 users per floor). Integrating / centralized management of all APs, with same SSID for all buildings. What is the best Mikrotik AP for this scenario/environment, running with good performance (AP —> client, client —> AP)?
Hap / Cap2n / Wap / SXT / Groove? Can anyone give me a hint?
And it has an open living area (without obstacles) for students (25x23 meters) but an AP (or two after) that hold 100/150 users. What robust AP … has a diagram / attachment design for better understanding. Can anyone help? Thank you, Lboni2.
I think you will need more than a single AP per floor to get a good coverage.
I’ve recently been involved in building a small wireless network in an office, that occupies a single floor 30x42 meters. We had to install 4 AP to get a good coverage. Your mileage may vary. One important thing, for instance, is materials that internal walls are made from. Do some measurements with a single access point before ordering other equipment.
Regarding equipment. In our case we installed 4 DIY access points consisting of RB912UAG-2HPnD board, R11e-5HacD wireless card, RF Elements case and antennas, but if I were to do a similar setup today I’d choose wAP ac instead.
I’d choose wAP ac (RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD). These two have similar power, but wAP ac is specifically designed as a wall/ceiling-mounted AP and is significantly cheaper.
