What can i do if the Password all was gone?

Hi buddy…

what can i do if my all password was gone when i accidently deleted all of it from the user group..?
without netinstall or open up the antenna enclosure, can i make it?

Just reset configuration - short two circle pads when power on RB.

Hi buddy…
thanks for guide, but the problem is, the routerboard is inside the enclosure antenna..

i only have 2 option..

  1. replace it and then go follow you guide…
  2. open all 16 screw then follow you guide…

both also is not the good idea cause the integrated antenna at tower site…

If all the user accounts are gone you have to reset it. Without access to the router (which you don’t have because all the user accounts are gone) that can only be done via the reset jumper on the board or a NetInstall.

After reading this post I quickly inserted a second user with full access, tested and password only known by myself, however it is a pity and prehaps a security flaw that winbox does not ask for original password for a user account first before allowing to change it, for example a disgruntled employee before leaving could log with their full access account and change or delete all other user accounts listed?

But then the reverse is also true - if you need the original password to delete or change a user account, a disgruntled employee could set a new password on his account and you wouldn’t be able to remove it anymore.

Ideally all administrative logins should go via AAA.

Yes reverse is true but there is a difference in that, if a disgruntled employee cannot change passwords of other accounts listed then access and control to that mikrotik device ( exclude reset jumper on the board or a NetInstall ) is not lost and while you may not be able to remove the disgruntled employee user account with password protection, by then they may not have direct access to the network to use their account ?,

Just wonder, is possible we can have set special account into the bridge which it will not shown in the user group?
