I have this radio “Metal G-52SHPacn” according to the software download page, I should install the mipsbe code, but the radio only has a 16mb flash with 10mb free. Just the router code is 10mb alone not including any other modules. Is this the proper code for this radio, it simply won’t fit?
Why not use System → Packages → Check for updates?
we’re not allowed to access the internet from these devices
Updates are supposed to use RAM, have you tried an update and received an error?
Like the above poster said, the NAND size doesn’t affect the upgrade process. Just try it and see.
the first time I tried, it copied a few files and rebooted with no change to the code, but it didn’t look like it finished coping the code
am I following the correct procedure, I just drag & drop the files to the files folder & reboot just like the 433AH board for example? However I don’t see how I can do it if the files are bigger than the destination
I just tried again and I get
could not upload file - write failed (6)
This is after it copies a number of files and then seems to run out of space. If I delete all files and then copy one at a time, the file that says it could not copy previously is able to be copied, so it’s not the file, it seem like a space issue.
How much RAM do you have free?
I just tested my hEX and File List showed 11.2MiB of 16MiB before and after uploading (drag & drop) the entire contents of the extra_pakage.zip file which totals 13.6MiB.
Ok, I think I was approaching this incorrectly. I tried to copy the routeros & additional packages that looked relevant, but those packages appear to be already included in the routeros package so I think I was just copying too much. I just copied the routeros only and I was able to upgrade and it seems to have the sub packages I need. Thanks.
