Hi all,
I have a Mikrotik RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT router. It has a fiber port. I understand that all internet service providers are not compatible with this fiber. What should I ask my isp to check fiber compatibility and what spf module should I get for a small office / home usage? My ISP connection’s advertised speed is 1GBPS.
I currently have a fiber line coming into my house. The line goes to the ISP supplied modem router which I have put into bridge mode. I want to simplify my network hence my desire to use that fiber port on the RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT.
Note:
I am in India and my isp is Airtel.
I am visualizing that I would plugin the fiber cable into the ubiquiti module and plug the LAN cable from the module into ether1 which is configured as my WAN port.
I would suggest to check whether you can use this cable https://mikrotik.com/product/SplusDA0001 (has 2x SFP+ GPON 1G/10G) as it is a more universal solution. But as said, better first ask the product support for confirmation of compatibility.
