What exactly is HW retries?

Hi,

Just for my own information what exactly is “HW retries”? What is HW and what is it retrying?

IMO, when wireless is sending data - it checks if data received is correct one, if not then retry occurs and that frame is sent again. that value shows - how many retries will occur when this frame is considered lost.

The algorithm has to be complexer as you have different speeds to (re-)transmit.
Yes it would be very interesting to hear the exact behaviour of an AP sending
data and what this parameter does exactly.

Thanks guys, you think much the same as me but I wonder why nobody from MT can say exactly what this is for real?

May be they dont know it. May be only Atheros knows exactly what their cards
are doing on the air ???

I have often wondered this.
How much info MT is given and how much thay are allowed to give us :slight_smile:
