Hello. I ask to help or assist advice or council. We need to organize a wireless connection to a remote object in the steppe. But the relief there is hilly. There is no direct visibility. This is how it looks:
Is it possible to use a passive repeater of two RD 5G30, which will be connected directly pigtails with each other. That’s what I’m talking about:
Will this circuit work and what signal quality can be?
If with passive you mean that there will be only antennas (no radios) at middle point, no, that’s not possible. You need radios on all Antennas.
Assumming all antennas have their radios (4 antennas + 4 radios total) it will work between A and B (middle point) but won’t work very well between B and C due to fresnel issues, as the highest peak which is between B and C will be blocking fresnel.
Imagine you tie a cord between B and C. Due to distance and the cord weight, it won’t be straight, but will draw a curve towards ground (just like high tension lines from power grid); if there’s any obstacle that interferes with it (purple oval), you’ll have fresnel problems:
Best solution would be putting B on that same highest peak, in order to avoid such fresnel issues (green arrow)
You won’t need any repeater or special setup, just set the PTPs (A-B1 and B2-C), and piggyback ethernets from B1-B2 radios at B, bridging wlan1+ether1 on both. It will be transparent for A-B.
