What is Mikrotik Requirement on large scale

I wonder what is mikrotik requirement if I have a Wi-max that support up to 1000 clients.

My bandwidth is about 100Mbps. Decided to run mikrotik with a proxy on?

Do I need big CPU? How fast should it be? How big is the RAM? Is 1 Gig enough? Will it put strain on my harddisk that hold the internet cache?

A 2.8Ghz or faster Pentium 4 class processor should do it. As for RAM, I would recommend 256MB RAM (you don’t need that much unless you are doing full BGP, but it’s hard to install any less). Installing two sticks of RAM will usually get you DDR performance whereas one stick will not.

I don’t recommend using the proxy, unless you are trying to increase your support calls. Not that Mikrotik’s proxy has anything particularly wrong with it, but all proxy’s can introduce subtle incompatibilities. Concentrate on redundant backhauls, bandwidth controls, pricing models, sales, etc.

If you want to really run a proxy, run it on a different machine.
