I search a lot of urls about GPS AirSync -thats how ubnt call but what is the big deal
How can I understand every unit on the same tower is using GPS for synchronization when to transmit and receive - simple
but why need GPS if I have 5 or 10 units on 1 tower and all are LAN connected (like in the same switch) why they cant synchronize
using that how do I call local-LAN whats the big catch with GPS?
GPS are reliable and accurate time sources.
Rather than make a new thread you may want to just search the forums for ‘GPS’ and read all the past threads that discuss this in great detail.
There are some systems such as Canopy that do in fact use timing over ethernet to a common site. Look up Motorola CMM for example. I am not aware of any other manufacturer syncing over ethernet at the moment. FWIW, Alvarion supports a 1pps clock across their Wimax base stations, and a few others do similar configurations.
