What is the latest network logging setup?

Hi,

Recently picked up a RB2011UiAs-2HnD. I’m trying to see which sites my users are accessing.

My initial search came up with https://code.google.com/p/webproxy-log/ which is now deprecated and not active. I then came across The Dude. I then read http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/the-dude-is-dead-move-on/56242/1 which states there is a show-stopper bug for me “And when I said “windows interface not working” I meant “web interface not working”.”

I use both linux and windows depending on which workstation I am on. I am not too familiar with routeros syntax in CLI so right now I am relying heavily on the web interface/winbox/etc.

Any tips or suggestion welcome. It is difficult to sort out old-inactive with the new-active. Thank you!

I’m not really sure what they experienced in that thread, but the Dude does work. There are bugs here and there, but overall it works pretty well. For the money, it works great. However, you said you wanted to see what sites your users are accessing…try traffic flow. There are some free Traffic Flow software releases out there that will get you started with it. Once you are familiar with, you will likely want to use of the paid for platforms. Traffic Flow is a function of the router.
