What is your experience in setting bursts values?

We’re planning to provide a big community, probably around 2000 households, with free wifi. We decided to limit the average at 102.4kbps, with a burst limit at 512kpbs we’re setting the threshold at 102.4kpbs. How would you decide the length of the burst time?

In case you didn’t know, burst time is not length of bursting. Its sampling time (every 1/16th if burst time).
Most of my isp students don’t even bother with it. But it’s them and you have your needs.

Short burst time will make router more responsive to consumption variation in time.

Alright got that, but can you please explain it further when you said "don’t even bother with it’? Because I am unable to set burst without setting a burst time.

Sorry, lack of details on my part.

I mean to say that they don’t bother doing bursting at all. They just use “max-limit” and “limit-at”.

I’m not saying if it’s good or bad. It just “is”
