Hi I would like to monitor internet connection(what sites are best to monitor - I used google.com - not satisfied - can you recommend any other site, I am thinking to monitor more sites to be the result more exact).
What parameters to use to monitor internet sites: interval ? (I use 00:00:10 - what does it mean every ten second one ping to that site?)
timeout ? (I use 1000 ms - but I have no idea what does it mean)
And what parameters are best to monitor local clients?
Could you help and explain me basic parameters?

http://www.google.com sucks for monitoring via pings. Each of the hosts (as of several months ago) will block some packets. One hop closer will work just fine. My favorite place to ping is 4.2.2..2 - I have never once seen it down nor have I ever seen packet loss caused by the L3 network or that host.
The two values answer how often a host is ping’ed and what kind of a timeout declares it as being down. 1000ms means if Netwatch does a ping and it doesn’t respond in 1 second, it is down.
