I am looking to get into using MikroTik and the Hotspot potential.
We have more and more requests for both free and paid hotspots, what i want to know is what everybody uses for their RADIUS / payments system. Ideally something that i can host on my own server and manage myself which is fairly easy to roll out.

Free radius server is the best choice.
but now days many service providers offering hosted solution with monthly subscription like software as a service they are charging 15$ per month and 165$ per year.

That looks like a good system. I forgot to mention that i want to be able to brand it myself so that there are none of the providers logo or URL. What sort of costs are involved with this? in my scenario i would be looking at having a central server running this and then have multiple sites with multiple routers
Custom branding is available you can update your logo and URL of your company what every you want once you subscribe they will give you the FTP of your account so that you can customized it as per your requirement.
What you have mention that is per you requirement… like centralized server and access with multiple routers [unlimited routers].

This is available in both options hosted or if you want to host on your system that also available.
My one is hosted i am paying 165$ plus their country Tax 10.3% per year from past two years.
if you want to host on your own system then just ask them they will install on your system with remote desktop access they also provide support with their subscription if its a client end installation then one year free updates is provided after that you have to subscribe the support.
These package is based on Windows, if you want to install it at your end then you need a windows box.
