What routerboard is the best for me....

Hi u all, I u all, I need a expert in here, I’m new to mikrotik hardware, I’m used to other stuff, but that other stuff is getting lame, so now, I have a question in here…

I have a big hotspot almost running and now with repeaters, I need to get my routerboard, but I don’t know what I must buy

NIC’s…

LAN
Hotspot
Internet1
Internet2

I want to block LAN form Hotspot, block all traffic

and I want to load balance/or/failover Internet1 and Internet2 for my LAN users and Hotspot users, but LAN and Hotspot must be blocked? is this to much asked?

:open_mouth:

Any routerboard will handle tasks you described. Everything else depends on how many firewall rules you will have, how well they will be optimized, what will be the total amount of forwarded traffic.

I have never used a routerboard is my life before but I want to try it out because I have seen looking for a solution and that solution can only be fixed with a PC with to many failure points, but the routerboard might be able to help me out I hope…

Here is my options I have:
RouterBOARD 250GS with case and P/S
RouterBoard 433AH 3 port 128MB
RouterBoard 433UAH 3 LAN 3 MPCI 2 USB
RouterBoard 750 - 5 Ethernet Ports, L4
RouterBOARD 750G L4 with case and PSU

I’ve got no idea why the prices is so different, and also why is there different license levels, what does it mean and why man why?

RouterBOARD 250GS with case and P/S it is switch and not suitable for your setup.

RouterBOARD 750G L4 with case and PSU - provides with gigabit ports.

RouterBOARD 433 provides with option to have wireless interface.

U states for USB support.
http://www.routerboard.com/ contains detailed information about every board.

cool, but I’ll only need this routerboard for a router…
I have may wireless AP’s in place, I only need a firewall type, dual WAN thingy NAT gateway

So, when wireless is not necessary and it is not planned to use it in any time. You have to select between RB750 and RB750G, it depends on that you need gigabit or not.

This is for only internet routing, I only need something for 1 firewall rule and for WAN load balancing, so how can this be done, will it be hard for a super newbie in routerboard products

For example 433UAH 3 LAN 3 MPCI 2 USB, where do I get the support list of 3G modems ???

I have a Huawei E220 USB Modem

Supported modems are listed here,
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported_Hardware#3G_cards

We are adding new 3G modems support on demand.

Will it be easy for a super newbie like me for configure it all

the 3G failover /or Load balancing of 2x ADSL connections
