what should I know about using discontinued hardware?

I’m a noob and wanted to get into mikrotik devices. I found a used device locally that’s been discontinued and I was wondering if it’s possible to use it fully (winbox or other management utilities) or if there will be some restrictions.

I don’t completely understand the licensing model either for using mikrotik devices.

Devices include a license without any expiry date, the device will continue to work as long as it can be powered on and as long as you treat it well.
