When weak clients connect, all customers are not pingable

We are seeing an issue where a weak customer will connect and during that time it will cause all the radios connected to that radio/antenna to be unpingable. Customers connected to another radio/antenna on the same board don’t have any issues. Everything is fine after about 30 seconds but ping times will remain high and jittery while connected. Once the weak customers disassociates, everything returns to normal until they associate again.

This is a straight 802.11a setup (no NStreme) with WDS and bridging. Has anyone seen this before?

It is normal behaviour, as ‘ack-timeout’ tunes to worst client settings to ensure communications with all connected clients. You have to improve communication with the problematic client, in oirder to avoid the particular issue.

What if we hard code the ack-timeout value instead of leaving it as auto? Would that keep this from happening?

If client has higher ack-timeout than configured limit, he\she will not connect to AP.
