Which Board can handle these amounts of users..

What would be the bare minimum router board we’d need (processor/mem etc) to service:

100 customers 15-20Mbit
250 customers 20-25Mbit
1000 customers 50-100Mbit

Where we would be doing queues for bandwidth limit speeds, maybe some p2p throttling and maybe some shaping. Also graphing, possibly even loading the dude on it.

Which models should we look at for those levels of customers? Thanks.

Hi,

I have recently deployed a network of about 700 users on Mikrotik.

Mikrotik providing:

  1. QoS
  2. PPPoE
  3. Graphing
  4. Some simple Firewall Rules
  5. Load Balancing over two WAN Links

Specification of PC is as follows
total-memory: 774536kB
cpu: “Intel(R)”
cpu-frequency: 1793MHz

CPU Usage very rarely gets close to 50%.

However the simultaneous number of users connected to mikrotik at a particular time does not exceed 250.

I hope this can help ou out.

sorry you must have misunderstood me. I was wondering which routerOS board I should buy? I don’t needs any slots on it for wireless etc, just 2 network cards and decent amount of horsepower. I was wondering which boards or classes of boards you’d recommend?

A RB1000 should be able to handle all of the scenarios requested

I would suggest the RB433AH plenty for most purposes.
If you need many ports then RB493AH.

Or perhaps the RB600 with expansion board.
