Which CAT4/CAT6 LTE modem has compatibility & reliability?

Hello! I’m planning to build a 4G router using the RBM11G and want to know which LTE modem I should use that’ll give me the least amount of config headaches, but also the best performance.

Ideally I’d like a CAT6 modem (Sierra MC7430 or Quectel EP06-E), but these seem to need hacks like covering pins to get going, even on the latest version of RouterOS?

If the CAT6 modems are too fussy, what’s the best CAT4 modem then? I’ve been looking at the Quectel EC25-AU or Huawei ME909s-120

Unfortunately the Mikrotik R11e-LTE modem doesn’t support the bands I need (B5, 850MHz).

Thanks for helping a Mikrotik newbie!

Any luck? Im in the same boat, ive been running a wAP LTE but its not ideal(wont connect to 4g)

I purchased a Quectel EC25-AU, but I’m too much of a dumb baby to get it to work :frowning:

Have you checked what services are on your local cell tower and how far away it is? the international version of the r11e-lte supports the following bands:
LTE FDD bands 1 (2100MHz) / 2 (1900MHz) / 3 (1800MHz) / 7 (2600MHz) / 8 (900 MHz) / 20 (800MHz)
LTE TDD bands 38 (2600MHz) / 40 (2300MHz)

Are you able to give us more information about what the issue is and how you are configuring it?

I have an ec25-AU. It took me about 15 minutes of buggering around to get it to LTE mode from the default PPP mode ( In the end I actually put it in my latop, installed (windows drivers for it), Connected to the COM port, Putty’ed into the com port and put in the command(as seen on the MT wiki ). Plugged it back into my mikrotik, and bang, saw the LTE interface( gave me a 192.168.x.x/24 address ), but worked no prob.
There is probably a better way to config it. But did it that way
