WHICH IS CORRECT POE ADAPTOR

Hello everyone…

We install various combinations of RB models and Mini- Pci models : for eg. 411+R52, 411AH+R5H, 411AH+XR2, etc. etc,

Now we all know that few RB are more powerful then others, like RB 411AH is more powerful then 411,& 411A and 433AH is more powerful frm all of them.
Similarly few mini pci cards are more powerful then others like,XR2, and XR5, they need more power.

Now when we purachse RB and Mini-Pci, POE & POE-adaoptor are also shipped by resller, but i m little bit surprised that the resller deliver POE and and POE-adaoptor of same configuration for each combination of RB+Mini-pci.
i.e- POE-adaoptor → Input = 100-240 v -50/60Hz
Output = +18V —1.0A

Now my question is that if we use 411AH+XR2 will this POE-adaoptor is sufficent to deliver enough Volt so that XR2 works upto mark… assuming that Cat5e run is 50-60 mts frm POE to the box.

or we should we change and adust POE-adaoptor according to the card and RB combinations. and according to required power consumption.

seems to be a really tough question to answer..

Looking at the table of characteristics of routerboards at routerboard.com
you can see that current Routerboards, support voltage from POE at the
range 14-28V. Actually MikroTik is delivering Power Supply at 24V and 0.8A
witch means average power of 19W. I don’t think your configuration
will require more than this power, do you?
An exception is RB600A which requires Power Supply of 48V from POE.

As for the length of the ethernet cable we were able to run RB411 with one
R52 with 90 meters long ethernet cable Cat5. I am not an expert on electricity
so can’t be of much more help :slight_smile:
