There will not be noticeable difference until you run huge proxy cache or will be dumping the traffic to disk. What should be the role and performance requirements of the router?

I want to know disk longevity (long day work) and need huge proxy cache.

In your place I would choose from:

  1. any cheap consumer disk if you can afford to loose information in the disk and have a quick access to the site.
  2. In any other case - only enterprise SSD or HDD.

I would go with smth from micron/intel datacenter grade SSDs.

Probably the question is if routeros supports TRIM. Does it?

Trim is present in linux kernel from 2.6.33+ and actual ros is based on 3.3.5 ..so probably yes ..?!

TRIM is only important if you will write and delete large amounts of small files to the SSD. If you will not use the disk for proxy cache, then TRIM is not important.

But nishadul stated he needs huge proxy cache…

I think that cheapest ssd that will be swapped by the supplier during 3 years warranty is the best choice. If it fails you will get new. If not you just spared the money you didn’t payed for the expensive ssd. Proxy cache could easily withstand some outage in my opinion. Put there several times bigger ssd than you need and take an advantage of wear leveling.

One ssd/hdd for ROS and one big hdd for cache.

So TRIM is not supported on current ros ..I gather

stay away from TLC ssd’s, are the less durable
