I am looking for a router that can support at least 200 simultaneous hotspot users, is hAP lite good enough for this?
If not, can you suggest another model that can? Thanks.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! For any SMIPS product (no memory, no NAND/Flash, no power, etc. etc. etc.)
-
hAP ac^2 / hAP ac^3 / Audience just for examples
But I think the OP wants to build a network for 200 people for $25 USD. Isn’t the cheapest way the best way? ![]()
uhm…
Too vague
Better requirements discussion will yield better responses!!!
Question for the OP, how many access points will you be using?
How will the access points connect back to the router?
Lots more to think of then just the router ( and really the access points are your primary concern where you need to spend the most $$$$) - technology, placement.
What will be the load from these users?
Not really, it just seems like a popular model hence the example but any reasonable price is okay.
While on topic, about how many users can hAP lite handle?
Nothing definite at the moment, but it’s for an open area with no walls about 800 sqm
Just typical social media users.
200 simultaneous hotspot users ---- simultaneous ---- means occurring, operating, or done at the same time …
What activity will these 200 simultaneous users be involved in? And do you really mean 200 simultaneous?
Activity like email, browsing the Internet, Streaming YouTube, Netflix, etc . realtime voip, gaming etc …
Is performance important for the 200 simultaneous users?
The fact that you are even talking about a haplite for a huge hotspot tells me your request is not serious.
If you have a set of requirements, ( which should include the ISP connectivity etc). then please lay them out. Otherwise, moving on.
I run about 500 MAX hotspot users at times on cheap HEX S, internet speed is 100mbit, few queues and firewall rules, and router doesnt even break a sweat.
So it more depends on bandwidth you mean to push instead of just number of users it self.
non-critical social media activity, no VOIP / no gaming.
It’s not strictly simultaneous, just typical coffee shop free wifi activities.
not at all.
The hEX will serve for your purposes as the Router.
The following Internet Data Usage Guide should be of interest to you …
You are serious???
You want really compare a 256MB 2 core 4 threads 880Mhz CPU (and microSD) with
32MB 1 core 1 thread 650MHz CPU (without any storage device)?
The SMIPS devices are for very light use / lab / toy use. Don’t expect it to do much, especially with 32MB RAM.
I wish my hEX S had WiFi like yours.
jajajajaja I assumed he was talking wired users LOL… I like your answer better!~!~
