Hi,
which routerboard should I use for NAT and ipsec 20/10Mbps for home use? With wifi or not.
Hi,
I suggest you to use RB1100AHx2 but it has no wireless card.
RB800 can do the job + minipci card R52HN or two if you need both 2.4GHz and 5GHz for wifi … add a switch if you need more ethernet ports…

Edit: But be aware that all units strong enough for this task use fans to cool CPU … rb1200 was the only model without moving parts, but has an ipsec bug that adds latency so it’s useless for the job.
Thanks. Rb2011uas will be too slow for that? I need to create tunnel to route a few public IP’s from my company.
You can use RB2011UAS it’s processor is 600MHz. For better performance you have to chose higher CPU model.
rb2011 will do sha aes-256bit ipsec at about 11mbps before maxing the CPU. The RB951G-2HnD has the same processer and wifi.
The RB1100AHx2 is the best option for you because of the hardware aes support.
If you want to use full capacity 20/10 mbit/s ipsec (full link upload and download at the same time) this will get your cpu to 100% (or very very close) even with 1500 byte packages on rb2011 … otherwise a great unit …
JF.
I should not say it over here.. but the Ubiquiti Edgerouter Lite has hardware encryption (well beyond 100 mbit/s) for about 100 euro.
Interesting. I’m gonna buy one and compare it to my 2011UAS, 751G, …
Sadly Ubiquiti doesn’t have their rackmount models ready and no date for release set.
