Hello,
I need some help choosing what Routerboard I should buy.
So, lets see my english are not the best but i ll try to be precise.
I have 20 computers, two internet connections(adsl2+ with routers came from ISP)
I need a routerboard that will be able to work very good without lags.
In the routerboard I ll have 2 networks 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0. The adsl routers will be on 192.168.2.0 with ip 192.168.2.2 and 192.168.2.3 and the rest of the computers will be on 192.168.1.0.
On the Routerboard I ll set firewall rules depending on ports(example ports: 443, 5000 - 5500 , 17854 and allot more) that will forward the packets on the 192.168.2.3 and all the rest packets will go on 192.168.2.2.
Basically I want the games to use the one internet connection and everything else the other.
I was thinking to buy RB750GL, will it work smooth?
Ok thanks i bough RB750GL any ideas how I make the scenario above work?So far I can use the one internet connection for all my packets how to I redirect the packets with ports 5000-5500 for example to the other router?
First let me know how much is your total bandwidth of your two link , This is very important , Then tell me about your firewall design , Because each role on firewall , queue , mangle , routes and etc take a cpu usage from your Routerboard and this may cause a bad performance if you haven’t choose the convenient routerboard . So tell me about these information like how many firewall rules do you want , how much bandwidth from each link , How many mangle rules do you want approximately then i can help you my friend .
You can also route based on users ip, destination web address (like Dynamic or static ip address list of required site) etc etc. RB750GL would be enough for it, but again depend on the throughput and other rules you wan to put it. if you want to go a bit higher while remaining with in budget, go with RB450G, it will be more then enough for your need I am sure.
In the Routing world & with the right knowledge/expertise , You can do all the magic you wish for > > , but beware what you wish for > > zzz
I ve followed the per traffic guide and partially works, i m having trouble when the ports i ve speciafied to go from the other internet connection work but i m getting disconnected like i dont get reply
You can put two different networks on one switch and it work fine. And its not redundant cause if i want to just bypass mikrotik and connect a computer on 192.168.2.0 i just change the ip on the computer.
yup, but network is left unmanageable then.
as much as majority(sub-$1000)switches lack network control tools.
also topiccreator din’t speak bout importance of temporally bypassing(during downtime ?)MikroTik so its not point here.
MikroTik - had a switch WITHIN it. so if someone wan’t to sonnect something in such kind/style - no big problem at all.
